Tribal Art, Antiques and Textiles

As a child I used to dig up antiques in friends’ gardens and still have many things I bought at jumble sales in the village of Streatley, Berkshire, England where I was born. I went on my first archaeological dig at the age of 11 and at 12 travelled to France on my own to take part in an excavation of the Chateau de Guise in Normandy, the home of notorious baron warlords. Streatley, mentioned in the Domesday Book, is on the most ancient Neolithic trackway in Europe, the Ridgeway and Alfred the Great was born just up the road.

Here are some of the objects I’ve collected on my travels from my ‘museum’ as some friends call my house in West Cork, Ireland. If there is something you are interested in, please let me know by dropping me a line at hugh(at)kilim.ie
